Following the devastating 2009 flood crisis in Jeddah, this project was launched as an urgent and critical intervention to enhance the city’s resilience and protect its communities.
SAPAC took the lead, mobilizing rapidly and delivering the works on time despite the challenging conditions. The scope included extensive utility development with 24 km of dry utilities and 1 km of wet utilities, along with major drainage and structural works comprising 21 km of drain channels, 14 bridges, and more than 1,500 box culverts.
These efforts formed a comprehensive flood-mitigation and infrastructure enhancement program that significantly strengthened Jeddah’s stormwater capacity and overall urban safety.
