The Third and Fourth Ring Road project in Makkah, executed within highly challenging mountainous terrain, involved some of the largest earthwork operations in the region, including more than 8 million m³ of earth and rock blasting, 2.5 million m³ of rock excavation, and an additional 2.5 million m³ of ordinary excavation.
The works also comprised 180 km of road-lane paving and 20 km of dry utility networks, enabling the creation of vital mobility corridors around the holy city.
This ambitious development significantly improved traffic flow, enhanced access for residents and pilgrims, and reduced congestion in central Makkah—playing a crucial role in supporting the Kingdom’s long-term vision for safer, more efficient, and resilient urban and pilgrimage infrastructure.
